Ramble from Castlebrook Inn, Compton Dundon, TA11 6PR

15th July 2025 (9:00am - 2:00pm)

Mike and Jo Cox will be organising this ramble

Westland Retirement Association Ramble
from the Castlebrook Inn, Compton Dundon, TA11 6PR
Tuesday 15th July 2025 09.30am – 2.30pm

The July ramble organisers are Mike and Jo Cox who will lead a walk starting and finishing at The Castlebrook Inn Compton Dundon where there is plenty of parking at the rear of the pub.  It will be approximately 5 miles and use a mixture of country lanes, fields, bridlepaths, woodland trails and part of the Polden Way.  There are 2 stiles, an uphill section at the start and a crossing of the busy B3151 road which we’ll need to take special care with.  If it has rained recently there may be small sections that will be muddy.

We will pay a visit to the Adm. Hood Monument en-route and walk across NT owned Collard Hill where we may see, if we are fortunate, the rare large blue butterfly.

We will meet at 9.15am in the car park and start the walk at 9.45am sharp.  The pub will be open for those walking to use the WC facilities if required.  Meals will be paid for on return from the walk.  We will be aiming to return by 12.30pm and sit down to eat at 1.00pm.

Beef Lasagne with garlic ciabatta and salad - £15 (Vegetarian option available)
